Gonna turn out fine…

Bob and I went to the State Fair on Thursday. We did a lot of walking and I’m still in pain, because I am ridiculously out of shape.

The night before we made a list of the food we really wanted to try and a few other things we wanted to check out.

One thing in particular I wanted to see was a vendor called Rock N Roll Jewelry—jewelry made from guitar strings and picks and the like. Because this is me. I perused the rainbow of guitar picks to choose from and debated on whether or not I really wanted to buy something. I did like the idea of a guitar pick necklace with a custom engraving. But what would I have engraved on it? My name just seemed silly. Especially considering I don’t actually play guitar.

Bob’s suggestion?

Andy Grammer.

It’s like he KNOWS ME.

We wandered around the Grand Stand floor a bit while I debated and went back to the stand. The guy working the booth (possibly the owner? no idea) liked my Lightish Red shirt. When I told him what I wanted engraved on the pick, he had to write it down.

Then posed the question: “How tall is Andy?”

Excuse me?

What relevance is this?

Then it dawned on me that he really had no idea that Mr. Grammer is somebody famous. He assumed Andy was someone I knew. I did not correct him. I felt silly enough as it was. He was asking height for reference in how long of a cord to use for the necklace. Gotcha.

It was about a ten minute wait for them to process my request so we wandered a bit more. When we went back to the booth, I don’t even know how many times the guy repeated ANDY GRAMMER in keeping orders straight. It was then a young girl working the booth with him alerted him to the fact that AG is actually a known musician.

He asked me if this was the case. I confirmed. And he said he had no idea and just assumed it was somebody I knew. Fine by me. The less I have to explain myself the less ridiculous I feel.

And now I have my own shiny BLUE, custom engraved, Andy Grammer guitar pick necklace.

There is a guitar string bead on the cord that slides so you can tether it to your wrist. Then you don’t have to worry about dropping your pick while playing.

You know—if I actually played guitar.

For my purposes, I’ve found a new fidget object. One of the only useful tips I’ve found in relation to ADHD.

Now I have a music reference in necklace form to go with the custom music charms on my bracelet.

Keep Your Head Up
