A Year in Review…2014…

Welp…

It’s that time again…

2015 is “The Year of the Sheep”…SOMEBODY is very excited.

2011 was “The Year of the House.”

2012 was “The Year of the Denver Road Trip…and Andy Grammer.”

2013 was “The Year of…apparently if it ain’t one thing, it’s another, fucking Christ.

2014 was The Year of the Phantom Smoke Stench Dear GOD MAKE IT STOP…

This year started off terribly and it took a long time to dig out from the aftermath. I definitely wouldn’t have survived any of it without My Bob. It had its good moments—lots of music and lots of writing and lots of Bob Time—but I’m really not sorry to see it go.

1.) Where did you ring in 2014?
At home. Bob was probably playing FFXIV and I was probably listening to Glee music and staring at the internet or a Word document.

2.) What did you do in 2014 that you’d never done before?
Had an MRI and two EEGs.

3.) Did you keep your new year’s resolutions and will you make more for next year?
Nope.

4.) Did anyone close to you become engaged or married?
No reports of rings or weddings this year…that I can remember…

5.) Did anyone close to you become pregnant or give birth?
There were a whole lot of babies. Everywhere. I think I might be the only person who did not get knocked up or give birth this year.

6.) Did anyone close to you die?
My in-laws had to put their dog Moon down. She was an old lady and in a lot of pain so it was time.

7.) How did you earn your keep?
Pseudo housewife.

8.) What countries places did you visit?
At this point, just going to see my family is a rare occasion and big production. So…Burnsville and Prior Lake…?

9.) What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
A clean house.

10.) What dates from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory and why?
The first week of June was tied up in wires for a 5-day EEG.

11.) What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Walking away from a terrible doctor.

12.) What was your biggest failure?
Accomplishing little around the house.

13.) Did you suffer illness or injury?
It wasn’t quite illness or injury, but I had my brain scanned more than once and it cost a fuckton of money and I still don’t have answers on the Phantom Smoke Stench.

14.) Did you ever encounter the police?
No, but DEAR GOD so many times I wanted to call them on the asshole neighbors who are now…hopefully…GONE.

15.) What was the best thing you bought?
Music. Lots of music.

16.) Where did most of your money go?
Medical bills Fucking Christ.

17.) What did you get really excited about?
Music. Lots of music.

18.) Compared to this time last year, are you…
…happier or sadder? Happier.
…thinner or fatter? About the same.
…richer or poorer? About the same—asinine medical bills not withstanding.

19.) What do you wish you’d done more of?
Cleaning.

20.) What do you wish you’d done less of?
Doctor appointments.

21.) How did you spend Christmas?
Christmas Eve with my family. Christmas Day with Bob’s.

22.) What are your short and long term goals for 2015?
Short Term: Finding a new doctor since mine left and I need refills on important pills.
Long Term: Cleaning and organizing the house.

23.) What was your favorite TV program?
We rewatched Farscape. Ten years since it ended and it’s still fantastic.

24.) What were your favorite books of the year?
I read books but nothing very memorable. Too much first-person-present-tense that makes me want to stab things.

25.) What was your favorite music from this year?
Andy Grammer, Ryan Star, O.A.R., Train, Better Than Ezra…so many new albums

26.) What song will always remind you of 2014?
Favorite Song by O.A.R.

27.) What were your favorite films of the year?
We watched movies but nothing stands out.

28.) What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
I turned 35. What. The hell. It was a Wednesday. Bob worked half a day, we ordered pizza, and spent the evening installing the new Dragon Age game.

29.) What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not encountering Dr. Psych Condescending Ass.

30.) How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
Pajamas all the time. And hoodies. Lots of hoodies.

31.) What kept you sane?
Bob and music.

32.) Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
See #25

33.) Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014.
Don’t suffer with an insufferable doctor. You are too important to let yourself get shit on by someone who has no interest in helping you.
