The End…sort of…

Aaand…that’s it…

Apparently.

I stopped at May 31st, Day 294. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. Though my first does of Vyvanse was just six days earlier, so that nightmare of a clusterfuck could have had something to do with it. But honestly, I really don’t remember why I stopped when I did. I sifted through the picture archives to see if I could figure out which pictures I had intended to post, and maybe actually put them in as an addendum, but there was no rhyme or reason to the project to begin with, I couldn’t really make heads or tails of what I might have chosen over a decade ago. I think it’s better left unfinished.

I did consider creating an individual post for each day (like subsequent attempts) but ultimately decided against it. I waffled quite a bit on what format to go with—individual days, weekly round-ups, monthly grids. Daily posts just didn’t feel right for some reason, but it seemed as if a lot was lost in just doing a monthly grid. Putting a week’s worth of pictures in one post offered a middle ground that worked for my bad-addled brain.

So here we are.

Thoughts From the Future…

I have not really revisited this project since I abandoned it more than a decade ago. I didn’t even go back through it when I decided to try again so many years later. Going back through these pictures, it’s so horrendously clear I had no fucking clue what I was doing in terms of composition. I still don’t, if we’re being realistic, but I think I’ve at least improved in the intervening years.

I’m also a little surprised there wasn’t more wedding-related content. I was barely writing, or even listening to much music in those days, but I was planning a wedding, and later a reception (that took place two months after I ditched the photo project). While our nuptials were not the all-consuming EVENT that many go for, it was mostly my primary focus in that time frame. But I guess that speaks to how much a WEDDING really mattered over actually getting MARRIED. We went small for a reason, and it wasn’t a financial one. (It was a financial one too, but far less so.)

ANYWAY.

It was interesting to revisit this first attempt with its questionable use of flash, ignorance of white balance, almost zero editing of any kind, haphazard subject matter, and inexplicable choice of tiny resolution (400×308…because…why???).

We’ll see how future projects compare down the line. Because we all know I’m going to keep doing this to myself.

Because I am a glutton for punishment.
