Poutine…

I made Poutine.

You heard me.

I’d heard talk of this Canadian concoction around the intarwebz but I had never tried it. And then there was a new vendor at the MN State Fair last year that sold exactly that—Poutine.

I’ve wanted to make my own ever since but just never got around to it. Recently Bob showed me a video he’d seen on making basic Poutine and then I really wanted some damn Poutine. We went grocery shopping shortly thereafter and bought what I needed to make the stuff.

… French Fries
… Cheese Curds
… Brown Gravy

It doesn’t actually need a recipe or really any instruction. It’s not exactly healthy (though I’m sure you could make it healthier) but there are worse things a person could eat. Also it’s right up my alley of food—POTATOES AND GRAVY.

Cook the fries.

Add the cheese curds.

Cover it in gravy.

Done.

Said video…

(Handle It: The Universal Poutine)

They used fresh mozzarella but I used actual cheese curds (white cheddar). Recipes are adamant that the cheese be F!R!E!S!H!, which I’m sure makes it that much better, but cheese is cheese in our house. Also the cheese curds were a fraction of the price of the mozzarella at the grocery store and I am cheap as hell at the grocery store.

It was good. I’ll make it again. It would probably be fantastic with bacon. Maybe next time.
