Week 133

It’s a never ending contradiction between people “in charge” claiming “IT’S ALL OVER” while others are yelling “NO IT FUCKING ISN’T” so…

Whatever.

In REAL news…

IT IS OFFICIALLY HOODIE WEATHER.

For the current forecast at least. I am under zero delusions that we’re not going to get one last sweltering heat spike before the snow falls.

But HOODIE WEATHER.

I had a whole post of haphazard bullet points written, left it for a couple of days, came back, and deleted it. Because reasons.

Anyway.

I have this wobble seat I got…a few? years ago and it sat and collected dust for a long time before I started using it with any regularity. It’s textured on both sides for “sensory input” but I have to buffer even the flatter side with a folded towel because if I sit on it for more than a few minutes my lips start to go numb and I’m not talking about my face.

I’ve been using it pretty much daily for…weeks? Months? A while. My hips appreciate the seat itself because even when I’m not really wobbling I’m still getting movement and when I stand up after sitting for an extended period of time, my hips have not atrophied like they usually do. I also don’t slouch as much while I’m sitting at my desk. Additionally, I’m getting a little bit of a core workout when I am actively wobbling, which is easy to maintain for long stretches with the right music playing. (But I still haven’t learned to pause movement when I take a drink from an open glass so I don’t spill all over myself. Straws for every beverage!)

The problem is that my tailbone does not like sitting on this thing for too long and starts to protest in painful ways. Then my sciatic likes to start thrumming and that is game over. I do have a thin cushion that I can put on top of it to buffer things more that gives me a longer stretch of sitting time, but I don’t get as much wobble movement out of the seat when I use that. They need to design one of these things as a donut or with the notch cut out the back like a coccyx cushion. Someone should get on that.

At least I’ve got something to do whilst building up these Last.fm stats. Which…are not at all surprising…
