Lemon Blondies…

We like lemon around here. Especially lemon bars. But lemon bars can be time consuming and sometimes a person doesn’t want to wait forever for the lemon bars to set up. The original recipe called these “Cakey Lemon Bar Brownies” or “Lemon Brownies” … as in flavor like a lemon bar, texture of a cakey brownie. But since there is no chocolate involved, it’s not really a brownie. It’s a blondie. Lemon Blondies. Lemon Blondies… Keep reading…Lemon Blondies…

Soft Ginger Cookies…

It used to be whenever I heard mention of ginger cookies, I thought of the thin, rock-hard, cut-out cookies that show up at Christmastime. They smell nice, but they’re not worth breaking your teeth on. When we moved into our house and I started itching to bake something, Bob mentioned that soft ginger cookies were his favorite. So I took to Google (Pinterest didn’t hit for another year or so) in search of a recipe… Keep reading…Soft Ginger Cookies…

Poutine…

I made Poutine. You heard me. I’d heard talk of this Canadian concoction around the intarwebz but I had never tried it. These Pinwheels are a savory appetizer-type food. I don’t remember where or when I had my first Pinwheel, but it was good. I didn’t ever make them myself… Keep reading…Pinwheels…

Peanut Butter Cup Bars…

Peanut butter and chocolate are a match made in heaven. (Though not quite as heavenly as caramel and chocolate, but that’s just me.) We love peanut butter in this house. And chocolate. And even more when they are smooshed together. I’ve seen countless recipes for peanut butter cups, peanut butter balls, [insert Reeses copycat recipe of choice here]. But they are all unnecessarily complicated or make enough to feed the state of California twice over…. Keep reading…Peanut Butter Cup Bars…

Cheesy Broccoli Potato Soup…

I’ve never been a broccoli fan. My parents won’t touch it, so I was never forced to eat it as a kid. I was never actually forced to eat anything as a kid, my mom was a staunch proponent of “if you don’t like it, don’t eat it, but don’t expect me to cook something else for you.” Anyway. The smell of cooked broccoli is quite vile. And I always thought the flavor was the… Keep reading…Cheesy Broccoli Potato Soup…
