Pinwheels…

There is a wide spectrum of foods called “Pinwheels.” Some savory, some sweet, they are all some sort of rolled-up concoction. With the exception of Pinwheel Cookies—which, admittedly, is usually where my mind first goes when I hear Pinwheel. Chocolate-covered marshmallow on a cookie…I’ll take it. Anyway. These Pinwheels are a savory appetizer-type food. I don’t remember where or when I had my first Pinwheel, but it was good. I didn’t ever make them myself… Keep reading…Pinwheels…

Peanut Butter Cup Bars…

Peanut butter and chocolate are a match made in heaven. (Though not quite as heavenly as caramel and chocolate, but that’s just me.) We love peanut butter in this house. And chocolate. And even more when they are smooshed together. I’ve seen countless recipes for peanut butter cups, peanut butter balls, [insert Reeses copycat recipe of choice here]. But they are all unnecessarily complicated or make enough to feed the state of California twice over…. Keep reading…Peanut Butter Cup Bars…

Cheesy Broccoli Potato Soup…

I’ve never been a broccoli fan. My parents won’t touch it, so I was never forced to eat it as a kid. But they are one of only a handful of fruits I can eat without the inside of my mouth inflaming and itching like a son-of-a-mother and my lips getting puffy. (Fun times, believe you me.) So I eat them. Additionally, I’m really not crazy about bananas mixed with other things. Unless we’re talking a strawberry-banana smoothie—I’m all for those. But anything else mixed… Keep reading…Banana Bread…

Teriyaki Chicken…

Years ago my mom got this recipe from my aunt for Teriyaki Chicken. My aunt, if memory serves, got the recipe from a friend native to Japan. Mom made it a few times, and then it got stuffed in the cabinet with all of the other unused recipes. My dad would never touch it with a ten-foot pole, so it was eventually forgotten about. When I was collecting recipes from my mom after we moved,… Keep reading…Teriyaki Chicken…

Baked Southwestern Eggrolls…

I don’t typically jump on eggroll recipes for a number of reasons. The frying and grease splatter for one. And as much as I love Chinese food, I’m not crazy about eggrolls. And then I came across a recipe titled Baked Southwestern Eggrolls and I read on. Baked…no frying, no grease. Also healthier. Southwestern…that generally implies a Mexican inspired food. And if there’s a food I love more than Chinese food (other than say…caramel filled… Keep reading…Baked Southwestern Eggrolls…
