It comes natural…

And so another year has come and gone.

Which means another year of fixating on my obsessive music listening habits.

In general, the players don’t surprised me. I kind of thought some of the numbers would have ended up higher than they did. But there was also a lot of music played in the kitchen on the iPod and in the car on CD that doesn’t get tracked by Last.fm.

Top 10 Most Played Artists of 2018…

Matt Nathanson put out a new album and it shows. He has now over taken the number three slot in my most-played artists of all time behind O.A.R. and Andy Grammer, knocking Ingram Hill and Train down to four and five.

Splender, however, put out their last album in 2002, yet their numbers seem to suggest otherwise. They’ve just taken over the Anxiety Playlist. Which is to say, the music I listen to on constant repeat when the anxiety is at its most consuming.

In 2018 I listened to a grand total of…

122 different artists

311 different albums

1,373 different tracks

And racked up a hefty 15,169 total plays.

Give or take. The program doesn’t always record things properly. But it’s a good ballpark figure.

The very first song played for the year was Semisonic’s This Will Be My Year.

The final song of the year was Matt Nathanson’s Farewell December.

Honorable mention outside the Top 10…Sister Hazel, Train, Billy Joel, Darren Criss, and Parachute.
A lot of those plays can be attributed to ye olde Ben & Marina playlist.

Sure it all means exactly nothing. But I still have way more fun than I probably should digging through it all.
