Disconnected function…

A few weeks back, I had a whole list of things in my head that I wanted to write about. And then…

Nothin’.

Par for the course.

Listing…

1.) We finally bought a humidifier for the bedroom. It felt like the air got super dry super fast when the weather turned cold this season, and if last winter taught me anything, turbinate reduction is great for BREATHING, but not so much for maintaining moisture in the sinuses in the winter months. We also bought a space heater for our bedroom, because running a humidifier requires closing the bedroom doors and on the first night the temperature inside our bedroom dropped below SIXTY degrees and that, my friends, is fucking COLD for an indoor temperature. Outside? Perfect hoodie weather. Inside? HOW ‘BOUT NO.

Pro Tip: get a cool mist humidifier to get the benefit of the added moisture in the air and an infrared heater to reduce the heater’s impact on that sacred sinus relief.

2.) I found a piece of paper with handwritten directions from my mom on how to get to the Farm. I only ever drove to the Farm on my own once, for my Grandma’s 90th birthday party in 2006. And considering it has now been almost two years since the Farm was sold, I don’t think I need that piece of paper anymore. Which is far more depressing than I expected it to be.

3.) The knob on the front door won’t turn, leaving the only point of entry/exit from our house the garage. The fill line for the ice maker has an apparent leak, leaving periodic puddles on the kitchen floor. One of the toilets randomly won’t have water in the tank to flush, though we can’t locate a leak. The other toilet tank is so inexplicably caked with water deposits from our obnoxiously hard water, it takes twenty minutes to fill with a slow trickle after being flushed. The garbage disposal keeps dying without warning (and without anything significant to grind) requiring a breaker reset every time. Which is all to say, we’ve got shit fix around here, little knowledge on how to do it, and we are both so very lazy we just DON’T WANT TO. (We actually have the parts to fix the toilets, but…lazy.)

4.) The Christmas tree still stands in the living room. The last time I mentioned taking it down, Bob said, “It’s not the end of January yet,” and so it still stands because I don’t want to give up the lights just yet. Or ever. We didn’t put it up until December 22nd, so it’s not like it’s been up for that long.

5.) According to the internet, the only acceptable way to drink kombucha is ironically. I started drinking it because of the whole “fermented foods help anxiety,” and while that turned out to be bullhonkey (for my anxiety at least) my gut seems to appreciate a daily dose, so I keep with it. I get it at Costco because it’s marginally cheaper, but that leaves me at the mercy of whatever they decide to carry. But occasionally we’ll try other stuff from the grocery store when it’s on sale, and over Christmas vacation we tried a local brand called Prohibition Kombucha. More expensive for the volume than others we’ve tried, but it was a fun little experiment.

White Elephant – lychee & jasmine: a little bitter, a little fruity
Pink Robot – juicy guava & beet: tasted like real strawberries
Muscateer – Japanese Muscat grape: tasted a little boozy like some grape juices
The Sicilian – lemon, juniper & orange blossom: citrus-y and bitter

6.) I was sitting here, minding my own business, and turned my head to find this happening. Daisy and the Nug seem to have gotten in a fight. Neo is choosing not to get involved, despite Daisy using her as a brace to fight back against the Nug.

What?

7.) Final Fantasy XIV announced expansion 5.0 for “early summer” and we are VERY SPECULATIVE about where the story is going to go from its current state and itching to find out WTAF is going on around ye olde Eorzea.
