Watching the wrong board…

It is, as I type this, eighty-one degrees outside. It’s 30% humidity, windy, and we are under a Critical Fire Weather Watch. Yesterday I saw a news headline that claimed Minnesota has “no more signs of drought” because it rained last week. Makes sense. One of the bathroom faucets has a drip that keeps getting progressively worse and the handle is getting floppier by the day. Our kitchen faucet did that once upon a time…. Here come the rising tide…

We had a record breaking four days straight of eighty-some degree weather. Today it’s forty degrees colder with rain and tomorrow we’re supposed to get anywhere between two and six inches of snow. We’ve been under a Red Flag fire weather watch for most of the week, but I think that has been negated for the time being with this rain. Every river in the area is under a flood warning as they are rapidly… Keep reading…Here come the rising tide…

WEEEEEE HAVE AN ICE DAAAAAAM!!!!!! *ahem* Big surprise, right? We knew it was inevitable because of how much snow we’ve had already this winter. Plus the unit right next door had a crew out just days ago cleaning a dam off their roof. We’re finally getting into a forecasted long stretch of above-freezing temperatures and all that melting can only lead to one place. Right on schedule yesterday afternoon, water started running out of the… Keep reading…5318008…

Slipping in and out of focus…

TL;DR — Sara says FUCK a lot. July. There’s a four-letter word if there ever was one. According to my computer it is 9:17 AM on July 26th. And since this is the lead-in to the monthly Last.fm stats for June, the fact that it’s almost August should tell you how great of a month July has been for my brain. NOT GOOD, KIDS. It’s Week 70…ish. Are we still counting weeks? When do we… Keep reading…Slipping in and out of focus…

Run for cover…

I thought the water pressure in the bathroom sinks was getting weirdly weak, but as it turns out, the aerators were just disgustingly caked with water deposits. So after a few rounds in the Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner they’re like brand new. Or as new as a fourteen-year-old faucet can really be. Bob was particularly impressed by the results so we also ran the aerator from the downstairs bathroom and the head from the kitchen faucet… Keep reading…Run for cover…

On and on forever…

Listen. We’ve been over this. It’s pretty much a requirement as a native Minnesotan to incessantly talk about the weather. It snowed again yesterday. There’s supposed to be more snow this weekend. No leaks yet, but half the people who have reported them are in our specific building of six units, forging the theory that it’s not mere coincidence, but a product of being the last building constructed by a company on the verge of… Keep reading…On and on forever…
