Someday I will live on a human time clock…

…today is not “someday.”

I just don’t even pretend that I am capable of keeping a sleep schedule that somewhat resembles human anymore.

I made bacon on Friday. We always make bacon in the oven because it is much easier and far less messy than cooking on the stove top. I was mixing real bacon with turkey bacon and despite cooking at a lower temperature (for less time) I somehow managed to burn some of the bacon. Some of it was very black. Some of it was very crispy. Most of it was fine. And my house smelled very strongly of bacon for the rest of the day and all I wanted to do was eat all the bacon for the rest of the day. But I didn’t. Because I made it to last the weekend for making Paninis for dinners.

In related news…our smoke detectors work. Quite well, as it so happens.

I made caramels on Friday. If you know me at all, you know caramel is one of my very favorite things ever. Of all time. And home made caramels are probably the best thing ever. But every recipe out there is the most complicated thing ever. Of. All. Time. And if you don’t have the best!candy!thermometer!EVAR! your caramels will be a complete failure. And then I found a recipe for making them in the microwave. Throw everything in a bowl. Set microwave for six minutes, stop to stir every 1 to 2 minutes (or you will have a mess…I did not have this problem) pour it into a greased dish, let cool and set, cut into small pieces…and eat all of them in one sitting. Or you know, wrap them in wax paper and ration them out over time. It was incredibly easy, really tasty, and it actually WORKED. Color me excited.

This weekend was another Star Wars testing weekend. It also marked the end of beta testing altogether. No more Star Wars. Sad times. Until the game comes out on the 20th. (Or early access begins on the 15th for those who preordered on day one.)

I was contemplating one of my story projects and got this wild hair about changing a major detail and then my brain stopped and said, “are you out of your ever-lovin’ mind?” But I might just be daring? crazy? stupid? enough to try going in that direction and see how much more crazy I can dump onto the page. We’ll see. Who knows?

It snowed on Thursday and again on Saturday. There’s probably less than an inch out there, but enough to make everything white. Because it was so little, there was no plowing done. Also, as far as I can tell, nobody around here shovels their own driveway when there is no plowing. At least not in the houses I can see from my bedroom window. We’d shovel…if we had a shovel. But we’re not exactly timely on getting such things because we are lazy.

I’ll just have to be extra paranoid careful when I go out to check the mail so I don’t fall and break my neck land on my fekking tailbone a fourth time.

It’s going to be a long winter.

Something to say?
